First up: Melanin Hair Care Leave-In Conditioner
This baby here has been a game changer. When I first started my clean non toxic haircare journey, I immediately looked at my haircare products because I love all things hair. I am sad to say, I had to throw away almost 90 % of my products. Yikes! (I do not recommend this by the way). Your girl was disappointed but I was also determined.
Randomly scrolling through Instagram, I came across the founder of Melanin Hair Care page and through some research and digging, I found this gem.
What makes it Clean: This non toxic leave in conditioner is formulated without the standard haircare toxins. For a full list of ingredients you should avoid. click here.—> Toxic List.
Key Ingredients: ProVitamin B5, Bamboo Extract, Wheat Amino Acids and Hydrolyzed Wheat Proteins to strengthen, fortify and reduce breakage, while rebuilding from the inside out. The Turnip Root Extract, White Tea Leaf Extract, Rosemary Leaf Extract, Hops Extract, Chamomile, Aloe Vera, Argan Oil, Baobab Seed Oil, Jojoba Oil and Spearmint work to instantly hydrate, soften, condition, promote the elasticity and flexibility of the hair, stimulate hair growth and reduce hair fall. For the complete list of the leave-in ingredients, click here—> Ingredient list.
My Experience: This leave in conditioner has become my holy grail. It is the perfect blend of moisture and light protein to keep your hair in check and prevent breakage. With a PH of 4.7, my oldest daughter with a hair type of (4a), my son has a hair type of (4c), my youngest daughter has a hair type of (3c) and me with a hair type of (4a), all have well hydrated moisturized hair. The slip is amazing and the ingredient list is something you can actually read and understand.
Recommendation: I highly recommend this product. If you are serious about taking steps toward a non toxic haircare lifestyle, this leave in conditioner is a no brainer and an easy first step. You will reduce the number of toxins that are in your haircare routine which in turn, will reduce the number of toxins that will go into your body. Honestly, this is a win! Tip: this is great for all types of hair, fine hair or thick hair.
Here is a pic of my youngest hair after using this leave in. BOMB!😍

When it comes to looking for a brand that offers consistent and quality products, SheaMoisture is definitely in the running. SheaMoisture has always created products with pure, natural, and raw ingredients so it was no surprise that they have a variety of clean toxic free hair products, and this leave in hair conditioner is one of them.
What makes it Clean: This non toxic leave in conditioner is formulated without the standard haircare toxins.
Key Ingredients: Organic Shea Butter which deeply moisturizes the hair and conditions the hair and scalp. Jamaican black castor oil has tons of reparative omegas that healthy hair growth. Last, invigorating peppermint that stimulates the scalp bringing healthy blood circulation. For a full list of the leave-in ingredients, click here—> Ingredient list
My Experience: This leave in conditioner is thick with a faint sweet smell that goes on nicely and absorbs into the hair making it moisturized and soft. My hair feels amazing after using this! It is pretty thick so I would apply it sparingly and add as you go. A little goes a long way.
Recommendation: This has never disappointed and leaves my hair moisturized and feeling like butter. 16oz is a lot of product for $14 dollars and like I mentioned a little goes a long way. Note: I did try this on my youngest daughter who has 3c hair and it was a little heavy for her hair so I would recommend for my 4c hair types to pick this one up. Trust me, you will not be disappointed…and did I mention it was toxic-free? Shea Moisture has a long list of deep conditioners and hair mask that have great ingredients as well!
